Stride Forward – Empowering Life After Injury
Supporting Life-Changing Mentor Programmes
Project Overview
Stride Forward is a UK-based non-profit charity that builds life-changing relationships between mentors and mentees adjusting to life after limb loss or serious injury. Their goal is to foster personal connection, resilience, and confidence through shared experiences.
We were asked to create a compelling brand film that would help Stride Forward attract both mentors and mentees to the programme. The film needed to authentically showcase the power of these relationships, the joy of shared activities, and the impact of community support, while also being sensitive to the individual stories and lived experiences of each participant.
Project Solution
Our approach focused on human storytelling, capturing the emotional heart of mentorship through rich, unscripted moments. We developed a shoot plan that followed five different mentor–mentee partnerships across two weekends and multiple outdoor locations, allowing us to document real interactions, mutual growth, and the joy of freedom after injury.
To ensure authenticity and accessibility, we worked closely with the Stride Forward team to understand the needs of the participants, account for physical and environmental factors, and structure interviews that felt open, comfortable, and empowering.
Execution
We filmed across two primary locations: Godalming and Somerset, covering a variety of real-life activities including kayaking, visiting a clinic, clay pigeon shooting, beach walks, and time on a working farm. This gave us the opportunity to express the diversity of experiences Stride Forward facilitates, as well as the different ways connections between mentors and mentees can be built.
Across both shoot days, we captured:
-
- Intimate interviews with mentors and mentee
- Candid footage of shared activities
- Establishing shots of locations to add narrative context
- Intimate interviews with mentors and mentee
We managed production logistics with consideration for physical access, weather contingencies, and the comfort of participants.
Impact
The final video was incredibly well received by both the client and the wider community. It succeeded in bringing to life the values of the organisation and provided a versatile brand asset that can be used for outreach, recruitment, and fundraising.
To us, this project became more than a brand video—it became a heartfelt piece of advocacy for the life-changing power of peer support.
“This film is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together with purpose. It captures the very essence of what Stride Forward is all about.” – Stride Forward
