Parkinson’s UK
Inspiring Movement Through Real Stories
Project Overview
Parkinson’s UK approached us with an inspiring mission: to help individuals with Parkinson’s discover the benefits of physical activity. Many people in this community may not see exercise as accessible or understand its value, with some facing symptoms that make them feel unable to be active. The challenge was to reshape these perceptions and show that exercise can be simple and impactful, from walking the dog to joining in a community class.
Project Solution
To create a compelling, nationwide campaign, we collaborated closely with Parkinson’s UK, highlighting diverse, accessible activities that resonate with the community. We designed a visual experience for billboards, digital displays, and Clear Channel boards across the UK, featuring real people in real settings. Our objective was to illustrate that physical activity doesn’t have to be high-intensity or intimidating—it can be approachable and enjoyable.
We identified six popular activities within the Parkinson’s community, showcasing each one in carefully chosen environments that matched the activities’ unique characteristics. Our locations included the Beacon of Light Leisure Centre in Sunderland—a beautifully open and dynamic space perfect for filming. Activities ranged from walking football, table tennis, seated exercises, and boxing, to outdoor walking and home-based workouts, demonstrating the variety of options for staying active with Parkinson’s.
Execution
This project required both photography and videography, capturing each activity in authentic, relatable scenes. The photography assets were used across digital billboards nationwide, while the video content aimed to educate and inspire individuals with Parkinson’s to take the first step toward becoming more active. Through these visuals, we told the stories of real people with Parkinson’s, sharing their experiences of how physical activity has positively transformed their lives.
Impact
Working on this project with Parkinson’s UK was exceptionally rewarding. Hearing directly from individuals living with Parkinson’s, we learned how the campaign is making a meaningful difference—encouraging even one more person to embrace physical activity is a tremendous success. The personal stories shared with us underscore the power of community and movement, proving that exercise can have life-changing benefits, especially when faced with the challenges of Parkinson’s.
